Putting your kids in car booster seats is the law in Washington State. But the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety today issued a warning about child booster seats. The Institute explains that not all booster seats offer children the same amount of safety protection in a crash. Seatbelts are designed for adults. That's why kids need a boost to get them in the right spot. It all comes down to where the lap and shoulder belts fit across the child's body.
The Institute has just released its latest ratings of almost all booster seats sold in the U.S. It tested each seat using a crash test dummy representing an average sized 6-year-old.
